In a strategic move reshaping Côte d’Ivoire’s political landscape, former President Laurent Gbagbo, head of the Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), announced a new leadership structure through a formal statement. This restructuring introduces four vice-presidents and a Chair of the Strategic and Political Council (CSP), each entrusted with distinct responsibilities to enhance the party’s operational efficiency.
Core leadership roles and responsibilities
- Assoa Adou, designated as First Vice-President, oversees adherence to the party’s statutes, internal regulations, and ensures alignment of all structures with the party’s guiding principles and strategic vision.
- Oulaye Hubert, Second Vice-President, presides over Central Committee sessions while managing intra-party dynamics and organizational cohesion.
- Ackan Emmanuel, Third Vice-President, leads party mobilization efforts, amplifies political outreach, and coordinates engagements with national institutions in strict accordance with the party’s directives.
- Justin Koné Katinan, Fourth Vice-President, spearheads policy development, coordinates governance initiatives, and monitors implementation of the party’s overarching agenda.
- Sébastien Dano Djedje has been appointed Chair of the CSP, assuming responsibility for the party’s overall direction and strategic supervision.
Vision behind the restructuring
Gbagbo emphasized that this leadership transition reflects a deliberate shift toward a more inclusive, collaborative governance model within PPA-CI. “The strength of our party lies not in a single individual, but in the unified efforts of dedicated leaders and committed members working collectively toward shared objectives.”
The announcement follows Gbagbo’s earlier declaration in May, during the PPA-CI Renaissance Day celebrations in Songon M’Bratté, where he outlined plans to revitalize the party’s structure for greater agility and impact.
