Gabon’s president begins four-day visit to Banjul

The President of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, arrived in Banjul, Gambia’s capital, yesterday for a four-day working and goodwill visit. He was warmly received by Gambia’s President Adama Barrow, with whom he held a private meeting. This was followed by bilateral talks at the official residence to review existing cooperation areas and explore new partnership opportunities between the two nations. The leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening Gambia-Gabon relations and fostering sustainable economic growth.

Later today, the Gabonese head of state will engage in another key meeting with his host.

Strengthening ties through infrastructure and heritage

The visit, aimed at bolstering the Libreville-Banjul axis, offers President Oligui Nguema the chance to tour vital government facilities and historic landmarks. Among the scheduled stops are the National Food and Drug Quality Control Laboratory in Brusubi, the University of The Gambia, the National Emergency Treatment Centre in Farato, and the renowned Kachikally Crocodile Pool in Bakau.

The program also includes a state banquet hosted by President Barrow in honor of his distinguished guest.
