French companies thrive in Senegal’s solar energy sector
From Dakar’s bustling corniche to the historic island of Gorée, and stretching along the airport highway to remote rural villages, solar-powered streetlights now illuminate the landscapes of Senegal. This green energy transition is largely driven by two French enterprises: Ragni, a family-run business from the Alpes-Maritimes region, and Fonroche, a mid-sized company based in Agen. Together, they represent just a fraction of the 340 French businesses operating across Senegal, proving that even smaller enterprises can carve out significant opportunities in West Africa’s evolving economy.
