Ivorian education system gears up for digital transformation at JOURIE 2026

Abidjan, July 21, 2026 — The Open Days for Research and Innovation in Education (JOURIE 2026) kicked off today at the École nationale supérieure de statistique et d’économie appliquée (ENSEA) in Abidjan. Organized by the Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Technical Training (MENAET), the event focuses on the theme: “Transforming education through digital innovation: sustainable solutions for quality schools.”

Set to conclude tomorrow, these sessions aim to foster a culture of research and highlight how scientific findings and educational innovations can enhance Ivorian education. The initiative emphasizes the integration of digital solutions to elevate teaching standards across primary, secondary, and higher education institutions.

Dr Inza Meité, Director of Studies, Strategies, Planning, and Statistics (DESPS), emphasized that JOURIE 2026 provides a platform for collective reflection on how research and technology can reshape Côte d’Ivoire’s educational landscape. He noted that the event underscores the ministry’s commitment to bridging research outcomes with policy decisions, ensuring public strategies are grounded in reliable data and rigorous analysis.

“These days serve as a unique opportunity to showcase research work, exchange best practices, explore technological solutions, and address systemic challenges,” Dr Meité stated. “It’s a space where educators, innovators, policymakers, and researchers converge to discuss the future of inclusive and high-quality education.”

The director reiterated the ministry’s vision of leveraging digital tools to improve educational quality, equity, and performance. This year’s theme reflects a broader ambition: to harness science, innovation, and technology in building an education system that leaves no learner behind.

In his opening address, Kouadio Kouman, Technical Advisor representing the Minister of National Education, Literacy and Technical Training, highlighted that JOURIE 2026 aligns with the government’s strategy to anchor educational reforms in evidence-based practices. He described digital tools not merely as instruments but as strategic enablers capable of accelerating transformation and fostering opportunities for a more equitable and high-performing Ivorian school system.

M. Kouadio added that the event brings together key stakeholders—researchers, teachers, innovators, policymakers, technical partners, and financial backers—to deliberate on governance, innovation, training, infrastructure, and inclusion. The discussions aim to chart a path toward a modern, adaptive, and inclusive education sector in Côte d’Ivoire.
