Chelsea signs Morgan Rogers in second most expensive Premier League deal

Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the arrival of England international Morgan Rogers, completing the transfer of one of the most promising young attacking talents in English football. The Blues announced the signing on their official channels, revealing that Rogers, aged 23, has committed to a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge, tying him to the club until 2033.

The young forward joins Chelsea ahead of the new season, following a standout period at Aston Villa where he established himself as a key creative force. During his two-year stint in Birmingham, Rogers contributed directly to 40 goals in 85 Premier League appearances, playing a pivotal role in Aston Villa’s fourth-place finish and their subsequent triumph in the UEFA Europa League last season.

His performances have also earned him a regular spot with the England national team. Since making his senior debut in November 2024, Rogers has made 22 appearances for the Three Lions, including featuring prominently at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he helped England secure a historic third-place finish.

The transfer fee for Rogers has been reported at approximately €117 million, making it the second-highest outlay in Premier League history. Only Alexander Isak’s move from Newcastle United to Liverpool last summer, valued at around €125 million, surpassed this amount.

Chelsea moved swiftly to secure Rogers’ signature, edging out Arsenal in a fierce competition for his services. The club celebrated the deal on social media with a video message, simply stating, “He chose Chelsea.” This declaration underscored the intensity of the race between the two London rivals to bring the young star to their respective squads.

With Rogers set to join a Chelsea side preparing for a new campaign under manager Xabi Alonso, his arrival represents a significant investment in the club’s future.
