Benin launches online tax services in Parakou, Comè, and Lokossa starting September 21
The General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) will roll out its e-services platform to taxpayers affiliated with the Small Business Tax Centers (CIPE) in Parakou, Comè, and Lokossa, beginning on September 21, 2026. This initiative enables online access to tax documents, including payment receipts and tax clearance certificates, while streamlining the filing and payment processes for eligible taxpayers.
Phase-by-phase rollout scheduled for September and October
The DGI’s phased implementation targets three key cities with distinct launch dates. Parakou will go live first on September 21, followed by Comè on September 28, and Lokossa on October 5. Taxpayers in each city will gain access to the e-services platform on their respective rollout dates, eliminating the need for in-person visits to tax offices.
The expanded digital services include:
- Online tax declarations and payments
- Instant issuance of tax clearance certificates
- Access to digital payment receipts
- Step-by-step guidance for first-time users
The DGI will conduct training sessions to ensure taxpayers can navigate the platform efficiently. This initiative is part of Benin’s broader digital transformation strategy, aimed at reducing administrative burdens and improving tax compliance.
Driving efficiency in Benin’s tax administration
By enabling online access to core tax services, the DGI seeks to minimize physical visits, cut processing times, and enhance transparency. Taxpayers in Parakou, Comè, and Lokossa will now benefit from a streamlined system that prioritizes convenience and accountability.
The phased rollout reflects careful planning to manage the transition smoothly. Local tax centers will provide on-the-ground support to address any challenges during the initial weeks following each launch date. This approach underscores Benin’s commitment to adopting modern, efficient governance practices through digital innovation.
