During his first official mission, Minister Armand Kuyema Natta, accompanied by Senior Advisor Paulin Gbenou, met with departmental directors, technical and central leadership, and heads of institutions under his ministry’s supervision. Discussions centered on service delivery and the critical challenges facing early childhood and primary education in Benin.

In his address to the teams, the Minister outlined a dual focus: « reinforcing achievements and fostering innovation. » He urged educators to consolidate recent gains while launching new initiatives to elevate educational standards. Using the phrase « your servant, » he emphasized the need for ongoing dialogue with field-level leaders to ensure responsive governance.

The Minister highlighted the strong performance in the 2026 Certificat d’études primaires (CEP), citing improved pass rates and the successful implementation of new curricula and evaluation systems. He called on education officials to maintain this momentum by reinforcing existing support structures at all levels.

Strengthening education outcomes

Education leaders shared their perspectives on key priorities. They stressed the urgency of recruiting additional teachers, enhancing pre-service and in-service training, and equipping central and technical departments with modern computing tools.

The relocation of ministry services to the Cité administrative d’Ahossougbéta was also discussed. Minister Kuyema Natta confirmed that the government is expediting this transition, though specific timelines and operational details remain under review.

Addressing staff and resource gaps

The two-day tour continues with visits to the departments of Atlantique and Littoral on July 30, 2026. These engagements will allow the Minister to engage directly with local stakeholders and gather firsthand insights into the operational realities of Benin’s education sector.
