Cotonou — From August 5 to 7, 2026, the National Education Council (CNE) will convene its third consultative assembly at the Golden Tulip hotel in Cotonou. The gathering will focus on strengthening scientific, technological, and vocational education pathways as key drivers for Benin’s industrial and digital transformation.
Uniting stakeholders for Benin’s educational future
The three-day assembly will bring together government officials, university leaders, public and private institutions, technical and financial partners, and civil society representatives. The goal is to align education, research, and vocational training with Benin’s long-term development goals under the Bénin 2060 vision.
Discussions will center on strategies to guide learners toward STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and professional fields, ensuring the workforce meets the demands of a rapidly evolving economy. CNE’s role in shaping national education policy
Executive Secretary of the CNE, Clément Chabi, emphasized the council’s role as a national dialogue platform. He highlighted that sustainable development, prosperity, and technological sovereignty depend on investing in youth, research, and human capital quality.
Noël Ahonangnon Gbaguidi, CNE President, outlined the council’s legal and strategic responsibilities, including defining national education priorities, coordinating the system, and monitoring public policy implementation. The 69-member assembly will review activity reports, assess past recommendations, and propose actionable steps to improve the education system’s efficiency.
