Adjacent to Adama’s stall is Drissa Traoré’s workshop, where he crafts everything from cooking stoves and bride trousseaus to peanut grinders and ovens. Since moving to the new market a year ago, Drissa has seen his income grow steadily. “My situation today is far better than before,” he shares. “The prices vary depending on the model, but my customers keep coming back.” He urges young entrepreneurs to embrace discipline and perseverance in their work.

Farming tools in high demand

Fousseyni Sangaré, another vendor, specializes in agricultural equipment. As the rainy season approaches, he sees a surge in demand for plows, hoes, and soil-working tools. “This year, however, we’ve faced challenges transporting equipment to rural areas due to security concerns,” he explains. Most of his stock originates from the Koutiala region, a key agricultural hub in Mali. Despite economic pressures, his loyal customers continue to support his business.

Adama Konaté, with 27 years of experience in bicycle assembly and repairs, has witnessed the market’s evolution firsthand. “The current surge in demand is driven by the fuel crisis,” he notes. His shop offers a wide range of models, each priced according to its specifications. Whether it’s a basic repair or a custom build, Adama ensures every customer leaves satisfied.
