Bamako hosts historic Mali-Maroc partnership talks
Bamako and Rabat are set to elevate their bilateral ties to new heights as Mali prepares to host the fourth session of the Grande Commission mixte de coopération from July 21 to 24, 2026. This landmark gathering, announced by Mali’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, marks a pivotal moment in strengthening the strategic alliance between the two nations.
Over four intensive days, high-ranking government officials, sector specialists, and business leaders will convene to assess progress on existing initiatives and chart a roadmap for future collaboration. The event underscores the commitment of both governments to deepen their partnership across key development sectors.
The agenda is structured in phases:
- July 21–22: Expert-level discussions to review ongoing projects and identify gaps in implementation.
- July 23: The Mali-Maroc Business Forum, a dedicated platform to foster economic ties, explore investment opportunities, and forge new commercial ventures.
- July 24: Ministerial-level negotiations to finalize agreements and set the strategic direction for bilateral cooperation in the coming years.
The talks will focus on sectors critical to sustainable growth, including trade, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, mining, healthcare, education, security, and youth empowerment. A major highlight of the session will be the signing of multiple memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements, intended to formalize new joint ventures and streamline cross-border initiatives.
Beyond economic considerations, the partnership emphasizes shared values such as mutual respect, transparency, and long-term vision. The outcomes of this session are expected to shape Mali’s and Morocco’s collaborative efforts in areas with high potential for regional impact.
